MISSION & OBJECTIVE
The Gasparilla International Film Festival is a celebration of independent film held annually in Tampa Bay, Florida. (Tampa/St. Petersburg). The Festival has created a unique film showcase that will have a lasting and cultural impact on the Tampa Bay Community - and the film community at large.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
The Gasparilla International Film Festival, Tampa/St. Petersburg's largest independent film festival, takes place during 10 days and concurrently with the (larger) Gasparilla Festival of the Arts- one of the country's finest arts festivals, nearly 40 years old.

There are approximately 100,000 arts patrons expected for all Gasparilla events- so you will most definitely have the opportunity to expose your film to this large audience!

Most importantly, we are about the FILMMAKERS. If you are accepted into our festival, you will be treated to a number of FILMMAKER exclusives, including private receptions, dinners, VIP treatment and accommodations.

Tampa Bay is rich in tradition: Tampa was once home to many Cuban cigar makers ("The Cigar Capital of the World"). Our Festival will be holding some events in Ybor City- Tampa's National and Historic Landmark District and Latin Quarter- the original home of cigar making industry, as well as beautiful + artistic downtown St. Petersburg

The Festival will be showcasing films of all types/genres, including features, documentaries, shorts, music videos, family-friendly films and those with a World beat!

SUBMISSIONS
All submissions must be in DVD region 1 or 0.

Submissions will not be returned. Please do not send submissions in fiber filled envelopes.

Please be sure to write the WAB tracking number and Film Title on the disc in case it becomes separated from its box.

SCREENINGS
If selected, filmmakers authorize Gasparilla International Film Festival (GIFF) to conduct up to four (4) theatrical screenings during the 2011 Gasparilla International Film Festival

MARKETING AND PUBLICITY
Gasparilla's publicity and marketing teams will craft a specific promotional campaign for each film. To assist in this campaign, participating filmmakers will be responsible for providing the following materials by the January deadlines, if selected to participate:

  • Digital images
  • Digital Press Kits
  • NTSC VHS or DVD media screeners of their film
  • NTSC DVD, or Beta-SP copy of trailer and film clips

Any other marketing materials you wish to be used to promote your film

FILM FORMATS
Rough cuts or works-in-progress for submissions are accepted as long as the completed film will be ready in time for the festival dates. You should always list directly on the tape box which elements of your film are missing.
